Specialist Cosmetic Lesion Removal
Since 2017, Plasma NI has been Northern Ireland’s specialist for the safe, cosmetic removal of skin tags, moles, and benign lesions. Led by Jemma Bamford, a highly experienced iTEC & VTCT Qualified Practitioner and JCCP Registered professional, currently completing Degree-Level Skin Science.
Our Scope of Practice
We provide a private, clinical solution for cosmetic concerns no longer available via the NHS. Please note: This is a strictly cosmetic service. We do not diagnose or treat medical skin conditions or skin cancer. Our role is the safe removal of confirmed benign (harmless) lesions for elective, aesthetic purposes.
The Safety Process: Medical Clearance
To maintain our high clinical standards, we categorise lesions before any cosmetic removal:
Standard Skin Tags: Recognised benign tags and common lesions do not require medical clearance and can be booked for instant removal.
Moles or Unusual Lesions: For your safety, these require "benign" status (confirmed harmless) before we can proceed with cosmetic removal. This is obtained via:
Your Own GP: A written "benign" clearance from your doctor.
Clinical Screening: Book a professional screening via our Consultant Dermatologist (Map My Mole) from £79.
The Comfort Protocol: Pain-Free Removal
We utilise advanced Fusion Plasma technology to precisely vaporise lesions. To ensure a virtually painless experience, please follow this mandatory preparation:
Purchase: Emla 5% Cream (over-the-counter at any pharmacy).
Apply: A thick layer to the treatment area 45 minutes prior to your arrival.
Procedure: The lesion is removed quickly and safely with minimal downtime.

I established Plasma NI in Lisburn because if saw a growing gap between high-street beauty treatments and medical intervention.
As GPs no longer offer lesion removal services for cosmetic purposes the only alternative patients had was to pay hundreds of pound on private medical services.
I invested in world leading equipment and advanced specialised regulated training and opened my dedicated private cosmetic Skin tag, mole & lesion removal clinic, in Lisburn, a first for Northern Ireland in 2022.
Because this is a specialised clinical service, I recognised that my training needed to go far beyond the everyday beauty and skincare i was previously offering
. I have travelled to Belfast, Dublin and Liverpool to master the safest, most effective methods of lesion removal, eventually partnering with Map my Mole to ensure every patient has access to Consultant Dermatologist oversight.

I choose Plasma as my specalist method because it offers a level of anatomical precision that traditiona cautery or cyrotherapy simply cannot match. Unlike liquid nitrogen, which can cause uncontrolled thermal damage to surrounding healthy tissue, plasma allows me to vaporise lesion with pinpoint accuracy, preserving the integrity of the surrounding skin. This “soft-surgery” approach - perfected through my advanced RQF training in Belfast, Dublin and Liverpool - results in a cleaner cosmetic finish, significantly lower risk of scarring, and a more comfortable healing journey for my skin-patients.

Please purchase a small tube of Emla Numbing Cream from your local Pharmacist or online, and apply generously, 45 mins prior to your appointment. This will allow sufficient numbing to take effect in time for your arrival for a comfortable & efficient treatment.

The treatment itself is very quick, lasting just a few minutes per lesion once the numbing cream has taken effect.
After the treatment, you will have small, brown carbon crusts on the treated area. These scabs are a natural part of the healing process and must be left to fall off on their own, which usually takes 5-10 days.
It is crucial to follow the aftercare instructions provided to you. Do not pick or scratch the scabs, and keep the area clean and dry. Once the scabs have fallen off, the new skin underneath may be a little pink and should be protected from the sun with a high-SPF sunscreen.
